Social media & Rotary

On Monday evening I visited the Rotary Club of Matlock.  I had been invited along to the club by AG John Shipman to talk about how a Rotary club could utilize Social Media. The Club met in the Temple Hotel, which in summer months, offers a picturesque view of Matlock.  Fortunately, the hard frost didn’t materialize that night so journeying away from the Hotel and down a rather steep, narrow hill wasn’t as treacherous as it could have been!

Santa's Sleigh

Like many Rotarians, I’m involved all through December with helping Santa tour the local community.  At weekends the Rotary Club of Hucknall tend to have static stands while on weeknights, we travel around our town bringing Christmas Cheer (hopefully) to many.

Thanks to our friends at the Round Table, we were able to take Santa’s Sleigh to the Capital FM Arena, home of GMB Nottingham Panthers prior to their match with Hull Stingrays.
While we were collecting on the Plaza Katie Chadburn, GMB Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey Club Team Photographer, came out and took the following picture of Santa and Rudolph.  Mind you, Santa was so annoyed at Rudolph’s antics that he threatened to set a Panther onto the naughty Reindeer!

More of Katie’s work can be seen here:

Several of us then stayed to watch an exciting Ice Hockey match with the Panthers victorious by a score of 8-4 and remaining top of the Elite National League.
