Sunday 1st July
2012 marked my first day as Rotary Club President. A team representing Hucknall Rotary Club,
organised by PP Ivan Manning, took to
the water racing twenty four other teams at the annual Dragon Boat Race along
the River Trent and overlooked by the football stadium of Nottingham Forest.

Their magnificent efforts
raised over £500 for the Nottingham University Hospitals charity’s fund for a
new Cystic Fibrosis unit at Nottingham City Hospital.
The team captained by Mr.
John McClue entered three races, finishing third, third and second. Well done everyone!

Special mention must go to PP Ivan who, as
weather turned bad, found the ideal spectator’s location, a seat by the window
overlooking the river in a local hostelry.
