Rain Stopped Play

On Saturday 7th July, in collaboration with TheHilltoppers Golf Society  , a PROMS IN THE PARK event had been organised featuring the Nottinghamshire Police Band.
Regrettably, the concert had to be cancelled due to the soggy condition of the ground and the adverse British ‘summer’ weather.  The British Tennis Open was also taking place at Wimbledon so the rain was hardly a surprise, but unlike Centre Court we did not have a roof that could close over the venue.  Rain may have stopped play, but the fund-raising continues.

Previous Projects

The Hilltoppers Golf Society, based at Radcliffe-onTrent Golf Club, working with the Rotary Club of Hucknall raised £ 50,000 between the years 2001 and 2009 for the Friends of the Children of Chernobyl charity

In 2011, together we raised £ 12,000 to purcahse a state of the art Primaflex Machine     for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

This year’s project

For our 2012 project we have decided to support the development of the new Cystic Fibrosis Unit at the City Hospital, Nottingham.
Cystic Fibrosis (C.F.) is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease and the average age of survival is just 38 years. C.F. patients often have to stay in hospital for 2 weeks or more at a time, several times a year, and have to be segregated from one another due to the risk of dangerous cross-infection. With this in mind, Nottingham Hospitals Charity want to create a "home at hospital" for them.
A considerable amount of equipment is required for the new centre and so the Hilltoppers, together with the Rotary Club of Hucknall, plan to raise £7,500 to purchase 2 ultrasonic nebulisers and a Treadmill Tunturi T Track T90.
